The history of Vorel is a weird, yet comprehensible one. It starts off around the time that the Southern Continent was explored. Those seeking refuge from the North's rules found a suitable living area along the beach, and named it after the rocks that littered the sand. A plateau dropped off into the beach, and from there the group of riders carved their weyr by hand. Needless to say it took many turns for the weyr to be completed, but when it was done it was magnificent! The group was old yet strong, and managed to survive long enough to breed a younger generation before passing off the newly-created weyr.
With such a young generation to govern it, things turned for the worst. The youths had a hard time gathering food from the vast forest that stood behind the weyr, and many would go and never return because they would easily get lost. Thus rules were set in place and weyrfolk were taught how to map the forest out in order to search for food and materials. Needless to say it was a rough beginning for the weyr, but the people and dragonkind survived. The weyr was named Vorel after its seemingly eerie beauty, and to this day still stands strong.
